What size should an og:image be?

1200×630 pixels (1.91:1) works everywhere and is the size most platforms request. Keep it under 5 MB and use an absolute HTTPS URL.

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter Card tags?

X falls back to Open Graph when its own tags are missing, but twitter:card is needed to choose the large-image layout. Include both; the tool writes both.

Why isn't my preview updating on LinkedIn or Slack?

They cache the first fetch. Use LinkedIn’s Post Inspector or re-share with a query string (?v=2) to force a refresh.
